 Is social media making us narcissistic?

 Baby boomers were "me generation", then thousands of years to call "me, me, me generation" is not far off.

The difference between self-confidence and narcissism

Self-esteem is generally considered a positive and healthy trait and is sometimes confused with abusive behavior.

The main difference between the two is that self-confidence is real and measured successfully, while narcissism is lacking.

When people get solid positive things in their lives, their self-confidence naturally increases. That's a good thing. High self-esteem is an important factor in stable mental health.

In contrast, an addict lacks the ability to promote behavior. This is exacerbated by the presence of social media. Narcissists work out of fear of failure, and moreover, fear of being perceived as failures.

These feelings of incompetence begin to make people aware of their decisions and create an interdependent relationship with social media.

The role of social media

In a world where social media is filtered through news feeds, the quality of truth can be severely threatened.

If a person is put in a situation where what is presented on social media easily meets the required standard of truth, these channels will be encouraged to rely as much as possible.

As a result, ignoring the real concrete success results. However, if what is presented on social media has an impact on their real life, why should it be treated as if it is not?

The "offline" world becomes even more interesting. And people can't be fully blamed.

If stockpiling your social media persona can lead to a better return on this investment, why don't we all want it? Sure, there are long-term effects and complications, but most people are not long-term thinkers.

This increases the incidence of chronic stress in young people. For many people who want to focus on their inner values, it is frustrating to live in a world that dislikes them for not accepting external values.

Social media, the perfect connector or clear and current threat?

It is not far off to say that social media is responsible for some of the negative trends in our modern world. The post-study study highlights the differences between the use of social media and the increase in feminine symptoms.

The question is what to do about it? We just can't get rid of it. Any integrated project must include social media as well as some of the capabilities present in our lives. Maybe we should focus on how we can turn the dial and use social media to deliver the benefits that can come with very few results.
